Wrap guide: wall decoration

Which wall deco film do you choose?

Grafityp offers different types of wall decoration films. With different thicknesses, from PVC to PVC-free, white matt or white textured and specifically for a brick wall. Whether you are tackling a bedroom, a rough exterior wall or a plastered interior wall of an office, there is a film for every application.

White matt

The white matt wall deco film is a monomeric print film and ideal for flat and slightly structured surfaces. Think of painted or plastered walls. Grafityp offers two different thicknesses of white matt films: 100µ and 150µ. Within the thickness 100µ, we even offer an ecological, PVC-free variant for the PVC options.

  • 150µ
    • M150R with a transparent removable adhesive
      • This wall deco film is ideal for super smooth surfaces and as a temporary feature, think for example of a short-term museum exhibition.
    • M150HT – transparent high-tack adhesive

White structured

Are you looking for a textured wall decoration film? Choose from Grafityp’s Lino, Smeriglio or Wood textured films. All three are polymeric PVC print films, with a thickness of 125µm and a transparent high-tack adhesive. These white-textured films are suitable for walls that have been painted, partitions, etc.

Brick

Applying wall deco to an exterior wall requires a completely different type of film. Fortunately, Grafityps S838HT brings solace! With a thickness of only 50 µm, the S838HT is a more flexible film, thanks to the production process in which the film was cast. In addition to its thickness, the grey high-tack adhesive also makes this film easy to apply on difficult substrates.

Wrap guide: Applying wall deco

You have chosen your ideal wall decoration film, now it is time to apply the film to the wall. Depending on the type of wall and the chosen film, you also need to use a different technique. Our wrap expert Rudi gives you tips on how to wrap different wall types.

Types of walls

  • Even flat walls

You always apply these films dry. Are you wrapping an entire wall? Then make the print a little oversized and print an overlap of at least 1 to 1.5 cm. Be careful, very large pieces of film are best positioned by two people. Position the first part of your job on the wall and then apply it using a horizontal motion with an appropriate squeegee.

  • Slightly structured walls

For slightly structured walls, the application process is almost identical to that of even walls. After applying, press the film with a soft roller and heat it with a heat gun. This causes the adhesive to bond into the deeper layers of the wall.

  • Structured walls

With structured walls (think brick), the work methods are the same as described above. The final finish differs. GrafiPrint S838SHT is best laminated with  LAMx30, LAMx40 or LAMx45.
