Wrapping an F-16? These materials make all the difference
08.04.2026 - Wrapping an F-16 is no everyday project. Whilst vehicle graphics already demand precision and craftsmanship, the bar is set even higher when it comes to fighter jets. Complex shapes, high speeds and extreme conditions make aircraft graphics an application in which the choice of materials and the application process are absolutely crucial.
Wrapping an F-16 with S38P and LAMX40
For many years, we have been supporting the Belgian Air Force with our equipment and expertise in wrapping F-16s. We also played our part in marking the 75th anniversary of 31 Squadron. On one side of the wing is a large tiger, the squadron’s mascot. On the other side are depictions of all kinds of fighter jets that 31 Squadron has flown since its formation in 1951. This is most likely the last F-16 project, as the Air Force will soon be switching to F-35s, which makes it all the more special.
For projects of this kind, we deliberately opt for a robust combination: S38P in combination with LAMX40. This two-in-one solution proves its worth in applications where both visual impact and technical reliability are key. Find out why below.
Wrapping an F-16: reliability under extreme conditions
When it comes to an F-16 wrap, it’s not just about achieving a visually appealing result, but also about reliability. The film must conform perfectly to complex curves, remain firmly in place and perform reliably under heavy strain. Furthermore, the application process is not the same as for a standard vehicle. Choosing the right material therefore really makes all the difference.
To withstand speeds ranging from Mach 1 to as high as Mach 2.05, an acceleration of 9 G and an altitude of 15 km, only the most robust materials are suitable. That is why this F-16 is wrapped in Grafityp S38P cast film combined with LAMx40 laminate: a combination designed for maximum durability, precision and a flawless visual appearance.
Why is S38P the right choice?
S38P is a white glossy cast PVC print film which is ideal for complex shapes and curved surfaces. The film is easy to work with and offers the flexibility required for a project like this. We have deliberately opted for a cast film without air escape and a stronger adhesive. On an F-16, where precision and control are essential, that makes a big difference.
Extra protection with LAMX40
When combined with the LAMX40 cast PVC laminate, this creates a durable solution for wraps that need to withstand greater strain. The transparent, glossy cast laminate helps to ensure a high-quality finish, extra protection and a longer lifespan for the print. This makes this combination particularly suitable for demanding applications, including, for example, wrapping an F-16.
Ready for any wrapping challenge
Wrapping an F-16 requires materials that continue to perform under extreme conditions. With S38P and LAMX40, you’re choosing a combination that’s ready for any extreme wrapping challenge. Discover for yourself what this solution can do for your project.
